Abstract

In the Last years, medical science has undertaken a significant effort to reconcile the clinical concept of death with recent medical developments. Knowledge of the principal medical theories related to the concept of death, and the understanding of the significance of the transcription of this significance into philosophical language, permit one to identify, on the one hand, the methodological criteria which facilitate the interdisciplinary work on this important subject, and on the other, the substantial criteria for critical discernment.
