Metaphysics of Relationship

Abstract

In this paper I will understand metaphysical issue as an answer to the question of meaning (the meaning of the factual data that we know in everyday’s experience ; the meaning of the data that are studied, for example, by scientific knowledge). The search of meaning is just the way for avoiding contemporary nihilism. But in order to answer the question of meaning it is necessary to develop a dynamic idea of relation, because factual data can be experienced in their meaning only if they are thought and lived in a relational context. So, if this is the situation, the true principle, the motivating principle can only be the relation itself. Ethics studies this principle. Better : ethics is called to perform this relational context. Therefore, from this point of view, ethics reveals its metaphysical vocation and can be used as an effective antidote to nihilism.
