Abstract

Meillassoux’s speculative realism is aporetic in its outcome in two ways. 1) It should lead to the abandonment of the concepts of ‘contingenty’ and ‘necessity’ because of the principle: “only contingency is necessary”. If it is a principle of being (and not of thought), than there is only the reality, the only absolute, in which ‘contingenty’ and ‘necessity’ have no meaning. 2) If there are no reasons for the existence of things, than there isn’t any “foundation”. But therefore: why the IperCaos? So the Meillassoux’s speculative realism seems not to be so “strong” and “new”, but it is like an “old” rationalism.
