Abstract

John Searle and the Reconciliation of Realities . The American Philosopher J. Searle wants to constitute a single philosophical theory that encompasses all reality, from physical reality (basic reality) to human reality. The philosopher analyzes concepts, typically associated with western traditions (causality, freedom, conscience), trying to keep himself halfway between materialism and dualism. However, despite Searle’s good intentions, some themes like freedom, are still affected by implicitly materialistic approaches.
