Abstract

The society we call postmodern is a complex, pluralistic, and fragmented entity, overcome by lawsuits, the verdicts of which seem to evade all parties involved. It becomes all the more pressing therefore to question whether the model that society gives us can still inspire a humanity capable of transcendence. This work seeks to reflect on this proposal, beginning with the idea that answer must be rooted in the understanding of human association, and in the significance of the relation with the transcendent for the free and intentional development of social rapport. In effect, the answer would be in the affirmative if : 1) one greatly succeeds in demonstrating (philosophically) that the social bond is in some way the bearer of transcendence. He wound then have to 2) maintain that the knowledge of the divine establishes a fundamental source of inspiration for social behavior, towards that which best and fully typifies man. This accomplished, one would need to ask himself 3) what strengths and directions a similar theological mould of society would imply for the organization of socio-political life.
